This is a collection of negatives, photographs and slides of different subjects in Washington State. The collection of graphic materials consists of various sizes, colors, subjects and time periods. Most of the materials are identified yet some are not. Several of the negatives are used in publications. Most of the negatives of the Governor's Mansion are used in the pamphlet titled: "The Executive Mansion, Home of the Washington's Governor's." One of the negatives of McCleary, WA is used in the book titled: "Out of the Woods, The Story of McCleary" by Ernest Teagle. Some of the negatives of Thurston County, WA were used in the book, "The Thurston County Place Names, A Heritage Guide." There is one color negative of the Old Brewhouse of the Olympia Brewing Co. that was used in the book: "The Old Brewhouse 1906-2006" by Heather Lockman. There are negatives of the early Capitol Buildings in Olympia, WA. And there are about 69 negatives and slides depicting the construction of the Capitol Building in Olympia, WA. There are some b&w photographs of construction on the Capitol Building. The negatives of the cities of Washington depict historical scenes in several cities, especially Olympia and Seattle, WA. It includes negatives of Shanty Town or Hooverville in Seattle, WA during the Depression. There are about 52 unidentified negatives that contain portraits of people that may be from the Olympia, WA area. The collection contains many more negatives, photographs and slides than are mentioned in this summary. There are portraits of some of the early governors.

Maud P. Mitchell was born about 1883 in Oregon. She married Chas. R. Mitchell and by 1920 they were living in Chehalis, WA. Charles was an assistant cashier at the bank. Charles had become a banker by 1930. Between 1957 & 1958 Charles passed away. And Maud passed away on 29 May 1960 in Chehalis, WA.
